Any chance this was original?

If it's an aftermarket mod, it looks like it was a decent job, originally.

It's original. I had one for a couple of hours....ordered it from some electronics warehouse....it came by mail.....smoked and quit in the first few minutes....shipped it back....it got lost....I recovered my money by the shipping insurance. Remember I did not have it long, but I think the covering was stamped and not true tuck and roll. BC Cool

Wow, I was sure it must have been aftermarket. Stamped? Could you elaborate? It sure looks like tuck and roll from the pictures, just not as thick a padding as the Kustoms.

There were a lot of amps that were covered in either true tuck n' roll, or like this amp embossed patterned vinyl. Plush, Harmony, Jensen, St.George, Teisco, etc. all tried to capture the feel and popularity of the Kustom originals.

By "stamped", BC is referring to the fact that the lines of pleats in the covering are created by heat sealing the two sheets of vinyl together as seams, unlike true tuck n' roll where the pleats are created in part by the application of the covering. If you look carefully at the photos, you will see thin lines separating the padded strips in the covering. These lines are heat sealed seams.

Bill is right about the heat sealing. Can you say " el Cheapo" Like I said...my Checkmate amp literally smoked before my very eyes. My Teisco bass on the other hand was a winner. Wish I still had it! BC Cool
