I'm not a country fan per se...but in my biz..you keep an eye on all channels..noted the latest video by Urban...his bassist is playing a pair of kustoms.. a little white (silver) one and a blue rig...way ta go !..now if we can get Keith to put away those silly Matchless amps and start playing some kustoms too...

Ed, did you catch which Kustoms the bassist was playing and is this in his most recent video? Cool

I just got finished looking at the video on Capitol Records Nashville website. They had a reduced quality video in it's entirety. I saw a Blue 3x12 rig and 2x12 K100 Silver. I'm not 100% sure because, as usual, the focus of the video was not the most photogenic. But it was definitely Blue and Silver.

Dumb question probably, but why would the bass player have both rigs there except for looks? Rolling Eyes And isn't the 2x12 not an especially great bass rig? Confused

Based on the short bits that we get to see, I couldn't get a good look at either. With just the overall look and size relationships I determined the models. The blue amp has a smaller distance above the badge indicating it is a 3 speaker cabinet. But the height is much smaller than a 3x15. That leads me to believe that it is a 3x12. The silver is shorter and narrower than the blue but I did not see the badge or the ports so I can't be sure of that one either. But it is definately a K100. The 2x12 CTS cabinet is a very nice bass rig for small venues. The 60 watts that the amp puts out needs to be amplified for larger venues. Besides, it's a music video. No one was playing anything. Ashlee Simpson would be proud. Laughing Conrad

Conrad, you are so right....I just sure hate to see videos with artists placing equipment there just for show-----I would rather see equipment they would really be using...
but, they are "showmen" and of course sometimes are displaying equipment that they are sponsored by........AND, this could only be a good thing for us Kustom folks...a bit more recognition by a well respected artist---make the values go up a bit I would think..... Cool

I really think the Kustom banner will have to be held high by us, the lowly man on the street. I don't think any Kustom, especially vintage gear, will be seen on stage at any major concert. Maybe the new combo's might. They aren't too bad. I played on one a couple of weeks ago, but with the bigboys, the show is the thing. Even Sheryl Crow was using the Chinese Kustom T&R. But the last time I saw her, she had generic (Marshall, etc) gear. The last bastian of Kustom, John Fogerty used his Kustom for 2 songs on his tour of a few years ago, but not when I saw him recently on his new album tour. It was fun when he told the story of his amp and guitar and played the amp as much as his guitar. He used the amp for "I've got a spell on you" and one other which I can't remember, with his Rickenbacker and the feedback he produced was just stellar. But I think it is up to us to keep those sparkly colors and black in out little corner of the world and hold the banner for Bud ourselves.
Very Happy Conrad

I haven't gone back to look at the video...but sounds like you've got the rigs peg'd..I used to know a bassist that played a 3x12 and a 2x15 cabs together..nice combination...
and yeah, the little 2x12 cab with JBL load.is a heck of a punch bass cab...but i'm sure it was mostly about the show...but that's why I love em first off anyway...the fact that they do translate my pedals so well, and don't break down on me....just makes me love em more..but it really has always been about the coolness factor...
I do advertise the fact that I have kustoms available through my backline..but nobody cares or asks for em...in this biz..they usually just want the basics...fender, marshal, mesa, vox...its a pretty narrow play list really..mostly cause the traveling pros figure they'll be lucky to get a decent clean amp period...never mind something really cool..its not uncommon for me to see a ride asking for a matchless but second choice being a fender twin..and since I can get twins all day for a fracktion of a matchless..and not have to worry about a player sitting his plastic dixie cup of beer on top of a $3000 amp... they get the fender..but just once I wish someone would say..hey..can you put a cool little grey sparkly kustom on stage?...ya'll be the first to hear about it..

Nope I was wrong, well partially. The rigs are both K200's The Blue is 3x12 and the Silver is 2x15. I looked closer at the ports and they are the same diameter and the heads are the same width. But the height of the 3x12 is not as tall as a 3x15. But I still contend it's a good visual.

that makes sense..to combine a 3x12 rig and a 2x15 together..that's actually a very valid bass rig...with a little pedal help up front or a nice bass guitar..you could consider it a true player..not just for show..will be interesting to see if he carries those on the road...

I know I would...good road cases..and a vintage amp minded mainline like Keith....yeah..the kustom kool would work...

I went to a Bleach (not a big fan but had tickets) concert a few years ago and I was checking out the back line and their lead guitarist had a orange 4x12 cabinet and orange head and there sat on top a kustom K250 black and you can see it on their music video super good feeling on the WOW 2000 music video silver disk
