K100B-1 good with 4 ohm load? [message #7317]

I just opened up my 2-12" cab and noticed it's two 8 ohm speakers are wired in series, yielding a total impedance of 16 ohms. I know the K200 heads are good for a 4ohm load. BUT what about the K100? Is a 4ohm load ok for these? Thanks!

The K100s output really wants a 8 ohm load(do a search for my amp output test that I posted some months ago)You can run it at 4 ohms but I would keep it at 4 or below on the volume knob so it does not get to hot( your pullin twice the current at 4 than 8 ohms.if you do not need the added wattage/volume I would keep the cab wired for 16 ohms.try it at 16.

Well, the cab was originally wired for 16 ohms. I think I have a couple of 16 ohm speakers laying around that I can put in there and wire them in parallel, that should make the amp happy... Thanks for the info Steve.
