The first question is, how do the speakers mount.
Are they front mounted by means of a removable front grill, or does the back of the cabinet come off and the speakers rear mount?

Also keep in mind that specific speakers were used in specific cabinets for a reason - they were designed to work best together. With that in mind, I would rebuild the speakers if they are original. If not original, then I would check speaker manfacturers to get their reccomendations. There is also a site (I can't remember the address) that has a formula for replacement speakers depending on the size and design-folded horn, semi folded horn, front, side or rear facing application etc. of the cab. Cool

A point to note would be that, I think it would be quite a ordeal for him to get those most likly Eminence made drivers if original, re- coned in Sweden!
A good driver to use that will not break the bank is the Selenium made model 15W3-SLF which has a VAS spec of 9.67 cubic ft and will be good for that cabinets internal volume.

I just got a pair of Eminence Legend Classic Bass speakers. 15 inch. They sound amazing, but they are not in a Kustom cab. I put them in these old bass reflex cabs. However, they are probably the best sounding speakers I have ever had.

So have you made up your mind on what you will load into the Kustom cab?
