I have a K250-1 head and a 2-15 bottom with the EV SRO that I got from my uncle when I was 15. The problem is when I was young and stupid I was using the head to DJ and the SRO's went into some home homemade boxes with horns, sooo being the young and stupid master tech that I was i drilled a hole in the front of the amp for a toggle switch that runs a fan that I cut a hole in the back for it runs so much cooler now. The question is how much did I kill the value, I'm thinking of getting rid of the set now. It's a K250-1( I think, no fancy stuff)and the 215 cab with the EV SRO's. were the SRO's for bass? because there louder than hell but not much bass. I believe the rig is from '71 or '73 black TnR only a few good sized tears on the underside of the cab and I believe I have covers for both head and cab.

Any info would be great thanks

Hello. The fan mod may affect collector value, but some players may view it as an advantageous udgrade. EV made two different SROs that I know of. One style has a rounded huge white bell cover with an EV logo in the middle, which was intended more for guitar and organ, but works for bass too (I'm borrowing a pair of reflex cabs with these speakers in them; they work well for bass in that style cabinet). The other style had a little more wattage handling and a black finned magnet; those seemed to be more intended for bass. I have PDF files of the owners manual for these speakers, if you would like me to email them to you. Good luck!

thanks

the SRO's I have are the ones with the huge black magnet assembly.
any specs would be great as i have them in different cabs now, I mean don't get me wrong they sound awesome for being 30+ years old but I think they could be better

I have 2 EVM 15"s. One lead model and one bass model. I got them both used, but reconed with EVM parts back in the late 70s for 85 dollars each. The bass model stamped EVM-B, has the black magnet cover, the lead model stamped EVM-L does not have the magnet cover, although both have the same size magnet. I do not know if the L models came that way, or if the magnet cover was never put back on by the re-coner, but can tell you that they sound killer in the same cabinet!
