I recently rejoined the forum after reading about the elusive 8 legged transitor / chip .I have 2 commanders and one in need of this part. I do a CCR / outlaw country show here in P.a and I just love these amps for what I do . It was member ''KustomBlues'' message 490 that said he had a few help me !
Welcome back. A better description of the part that you are looking for would be helpful.
As far as I know Commanders used an transconductance amp that was part number 80848. These looked like a round metal transistor with 8 legs. They would be found on the effects board, PC5068.
They controlled the vibrato/tremolo and the reverb mix.
If this is the part that you are looking for, they can be replaced with an CA3080E which has a plastic DIP package, but will fit directly into the pc board.
As of late last year these chips were still available from Jameco Electronics in Belmont, California.
