Can anyone suggest a quality 3-prong power cord for Kustom amps that is as long (or longer) as well as having the built-in clip on the plug to secure the loose end onto itself after being wrapped around the cord retainers on the back panel? This would be as a replacement/upgrade for the original stock 2-prong power cords. I think the original cord is 18AWG. Going to 16 AWG, along with the ground wire, may make it too thick to use the original grommet/clamp where it enters the chassis.

Believe it or not, the best place to buy a new power cord is at your local vacuum cleaner dealer. Bissell uses a long grounded cord for their carpet steam cleaners with the clip. It is also a good gauge that will fit in the existing cord restraint.

A little over a year ago, I bought exactly what you're looking for based upon information from a fellow Kustom forum member. It's for a steam cleaner/vacuum. I bought it from Vacuums24X7.com. It's exactly like the original Kustom except for being plenty long - 40 feet. Of course you can size it to need. The part is #FA-40f3PRCORD. The cost was $25.99 plus $5.99 shipping for a total of $31.98. They're located in Ashburn, VA and the phone number is 703-729-6622. There you go. Cool

That was my suggestion, but I have found the same thing at a local vacuum repair store for $16 without shipping. A little legwork hepls now and then.

Yea Conrad, I did that first, but only found 1 that fit the criteria. It was perfect except that it was a dark green color and I wanted black. Still a good source, particularly since the guy gave the green cord because it was on a broken machine. Cool

I found nice three prong plug and cable at Home Depot. About $9.00 for an 8 foot cord.

You have to put on a 40' cord like the original. You never know when you have to plug in at the neighbors. Cool
