My Grandfather is liquidating some of his "toys", particularly guitars and amplifiers. He has a Kustom rolled and tucked Blue amplifier with a model sticker showing C495. On the web-site, I have been unable to locate this model. I've seen C595 and C895, but not this model.

This amp. is in perfect cosmetic condition, complete with cover. One of the two channels does not work, but we have not taken it in to find out what the issue is. I've got a local shop in Kansas City, MO that is going to look at it.

My question is can anyone give me any information on this model and ideas on the value?

Is there anything I need to watch for when seeking to have the channel repaired?

Any information would be appreciated.

Other 495’s I have heard of had very low serial numbers (below 3000).
What is your serial number?
It is on a tag on back of amp - the early Kustom model numbers and serial numbers were hand-written in pencil.
The first 5000 Kustoms produced had larger knobs (a stove-top knob) than later models.
Here is an estimate of when your amp was made:
Serial Number
00001 to 01399 1964
01400 to 03149 1965
03150 to 09999 1966

Thank you for the response.

Your correct, the model and serial number are hand written on a tag in back and from you information looks like it was made in 65'.

Any information on having it repaired?

It is in perfect cosmetic condition. Any idea on what the value of it would be? Is there any other place I could find out more information on this year or color (blue)?

Thank you again for your response.

Hi, I have never seen the inside of a 495 model. I have schematics for the 1967 model, and it may be close enough to help a tech to repair the amp. These amps unlike the 68 and on models had no output circuit protection other than the fuse, with in most cases is to slow to respond to halt damage.Send me a self addressed stamped evelope, and I will get you out a schematic of what I have.
