Heres a question, When did the first Kustom 4-10 cabinet came to be?
The reason I as is last night I opened the new issue of vintage guitar magazine and one of the article is about some fellow and his amp collection,( sorry forgot his name)and he has a good bunch of kustoms mostly combo types, but he has one 4-10 cabinet which loks to be the right size( about the size of the 2-15 cab) but it has no port tubes, it has ports like a early cab but no tubes.
In fact when I looked closer at the photo it looked like the baffle hole lip around some of the speakers was showing wood, as in very little black paint.
I have never seen a 68 4-10 cab as this k200 amp set was said to be with no tubes.
What say you all?

The amp you are refering to is owned by David Gant. If you look at the 67/68 catalog on this site you will see the 4 10" JBL cabinet. It was only offered during the K200A series amps. It does have two 3" port holes without the 4" aluminum ports that were an option at that time. The cabinet size is the same as the 2x15's and the back is sealed. I have seen Dave's amp twice and the area you mentioned around the speakers are a reflection. I have only seen two of that model cabinet. Daves, and Les S had on on ebay and both were cascade. Fall of 70 Kustom added back the 4x10 cabinet in the same size. The new 4x10 cabinets had standard speakers, the top two were vented from the back and the bottom two were vented through the port holes. You can find photo's of 3x12's 210x15 and some other cabinets on the kolor katalog supplement tab at the bottom of the catalog page. I owned the newer vented 4x10 cab in black.

I have a 4x10 like what you are talking about. I was biddig on an aluminum faced K200A-4 on eBay (didn't win it Mad ) and saw this empty cabinet in the background that the head went with. The seller said in the auction that the cabinet wasn't for sale because it was too big to ship. I begged and got 'em to sell the thing.

It has a sealed back with 3" ports (no tubes). It originally came with JBLs. It has the "A" model style badge and the older style speaker jack plate. Interesting side note.... I noticed in the seller's history that he had sold the D110Fs that came with in this cabinet. They each were 8 ohm speakers. Upon opening the cabinet, the original wiring was still intact. Kustom had wired all four speakers in PARALLEL. This meant a 2-ohm load. I ended doing the top set and bottm set each in series and brought them together parallel to get a proper 8-ohm load.
