Hi- I'm new here, and not terribly familiar with the inner workings of any of my amps, but I've recently tried selling my old but still cute K100, and discovered much to my dismay that the effects channel has started to come up with distinctly annoying trebly hiss that gets worse as I up the treble, especially when I pull the bright knob. The non effects channel still sounds great, so I'm guessing that the hiss is not speaker related. Unfortunately this cuts out the fun of the reverb and tremolo, which is a lot of what I like about this amp
So, I guess what I want to know is can this hiss be eliminated? Is it simple enough for someone like me who hasn't gotten past tube replacement in the amp repair department? (I know, this amp has no tubes- I still like the way it sounds- I've had the darn thing since what - 1970?) If not, can you guys recommend someone good to take this amp to in the NYC- Westchester area who won't charge me a bench fee and then tell me this is normal for these amps?
Maybe my amp just doesn't want to be sold, and has come up with this tactic to make me feel sorry for it. Maybe this tactic will work.
thanks (in advance)
