Hey guys, thanks for letting me join. I don't know how to down load pictures from my computer yet but I thought that I'd contribute to the group. I recently acquired a pair of vintage Kustom PA speakers. The kind that has two 15" speakers and a Altec like horn at the top. They need a lot of TLC so this group probably will come in handy. I haven't read all the postings about handles yet so if someone has already post this information, just disregard mine. I just wanted to let you know that you can get brand new replacement handles that are exactly like the old ones if you go to etsy.com. If you type in the search bar "vintage suit case handles", you'll find all different kinds. Two vendors there sell the black handles like the Kustoms. One vender sells them for about $2.00/piece. "The other vendor sells them for about $6.00/piece. Like I said, if I could down load pictures, I could show you side by side comparisons.

Welcome to the joint and congrats on the score. There is no way to post pics on this site. I've located the handles that you referenced and they look like pretty much the same as the originals. I've ordered some, so thanks for the heads up. Smile

the thing I found out when it comes to repairing or restoring old amplifiers is, a lot of the parts are still being made today.

You're right. Sometimes just finding them is the roadblock.

The handles from Etsy arrived today, 1/12/21. I'm happy to report that they are exactly like the originals. Took a few days to get here, but well worth the wait. Smile

Hey all. I found some handles on etsy also from a company called likebags. They do come from China wasn't happy with that but they got here and they are a very close replacement. They come in packs of 5 for like $8 plus shipping. Total under $20. Go to Etsy search for likebags. If you still have hardware the plastic inserts fit as well.

They are $2.20 each plus shipping. Not sure how you got them for $12 shipping unless you only got a couple. I ordered over a dozen so that may explain it.

$17.87 total with shipping. 5 handles total. Why do people always have to try to discredit what you say especially here. We are all only trying to pass information to help others. I can send you a copy of my receipt if you want.

it's kind of amusing that a lot of musicians have viewed this post. Apparently, the original handles were breaking all the time. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the old ones and the new ones is, the old ones used a brad while the new ones use a screw. If these are prone to break, maybe it would be a good idea to take them apart and reinforce the screw posts with some kind of epoxy dough. That's great that the plastic insert fits the old hardware if you want to keep things as original as possible. I figure, once again you could fill the screw holes with JB weld or some other epoxy and set the brad into the glue before it hardens.

Why do you have to have a bad attitude when you clearly misunderstood what I wrote? I wasn't discrediting anything. Maybe you should stop being such a jerk and actually read what I wrote again. I simply stated that you got it for a cheaper price because of the quantity. There's no reason for you to have that negativity especially when you wouldn't act that way to my face.

So what you call "passing information" is falsely accusing me of something because you don't know how to read? Let's look over what I wrote again.

"Not sure how you got them for $12 shipping unless you only got a couple. I ordered over a dozen so that may explain it."

You admitted yourself that you only ordered five of them. Which was exactly what I was suggesting.
