Since its a tube/transfromer driven output stage It is probibly set to run a 8 ohm load, but tube output stages are very for giving of load unlike a SS stage.
You could run it with a load of 4,8 or 16 ohm speakers, but if it IS set up for a 8 ohm load and you use the other two you will have 1/3 less wattage, which may be a good thing if the amp is too loud normally to get output stage distortion ie, a great lead tone.
If you have a decent ohm meter you could measure the secondary of the output transformer thru the speasker jack(s).
To do this first take as short as possible speaker cord and with the meter measure the resistance of the cord form tip to tip, and sleve to sleve and add this resistance up. Lets say it comes to 2 ohms, now plug the cord into one of the amps speaker jacks, and take a reading. The 8 ohm speaker tap will read.5 to .7 ohms, for a total of 2.7 ohms, a 4 ohm tap will read .3 to .4 ohms, for a total of 2.4 ohms. If the amp has two speaker jacks they may be on different taps, like one on 4 and one on 8 ohms.
The best way to do this is to not go thru a cord, but use a bare 1/4 cable end so you do not have to deal with measuring thru a cords resistance!
If you drive a 16 ohm speaker off a 8 ohm tap the output tubes will live longer, if you do it the other way, drive a 4 ohm load off the 8 ohm tap you can expect 1/3 less output tube life.
If that amp has China or sovetec output tubes it will sound harsh and crappyer the harder you drive it! If you basicly like the tone of the amp go to the Eurotubes site and get a matched pair of the JJ electronics 6L6 tube that they carry and you will hear quite a difference!
