I'm back! Boy was I fortunate a few weeks ago---stepped in a music store in Rock Hill, SC and there sat the prettiest, sexiest, MINT Kustom combo amp I had ever seen ....charcoal T&R, Kustom Commander -w- the twin 12's, all original, everything works......it is AWESOME. It is like this has sat in a closet for 30 years! Can someone tell me what this baby is worth these days? More/less/on par with the plexi face combo's? THX Kustom gang!
hey Keith (woody)...so glad to see you poking around on the tuck n roll side again...and to think that charcoal beauty was right here under my nose all the time..ROck Hill is a great town ain't it!
I personally think the commander series should be worth every bit what the plexi models sell for...that being said...there is a wide range of prices on the combos.. I've seen em go for $200 and I've seen guys duken it out at $500..go figure...I'm a plexi man myself..but that's just cause those were the models on store floors when puberty hit and the image of those amps was emblazened in my mind..right along with silver face fenders...but it doesn't mean I have a lack of appreciation for the later kustoms and sounds like you've found a great one...so glad you're back to playing on one...n play loud! ET
THX Ed...... I figured I'd get ya on here! How are you?
This piece is AMAZING! I mean it, almost like it has just sat covered somewhere...and, (maybe due to the 12's), sounds better than the plexi face 4x10 150 I had......matter of taste too....I would hope it's worth $500......
Ed, want to chat a minute, send me your phone number again via e-mail if you don't mind---- krwilkes@earthlink.net......
sorry for the slow reply Keith...been running solid 18 hr days lately..its spring festival time of year which means plenty of biz for my little backline company...for any of you folks that ever want to call..love to hear from you..my cell: 704.575.9020
and as for the tone of those 12s Keith..yeah...there's a place for both 10s and 12s.. I find the 4x10 SC to be a tad thin around the house..but its actually very well voiced for guitar and throttled up on stage..it works...but ya gotta get that 100/150 working those speakers and banging off the thin cab they live in..the 12s defintely have a fuller tone and if I'm playing a smaller wedding or indoor gig..the 2x10SC combos (2 in stereo) typically get the call...but on outdoor stages I take my pair of 2x12SC rigs at a minimum..sometimes the bigger gear.. I've been known to run my 65 fender showman head through mykustom 4x12 (old ported cab) and then the pair of 2x12SC rigs on each side..looks cool...sounds insanely loud..but mostly...looks cool (grin).....
