Yes and no.
The C15L did go up high enough in frequency response to be used for guitar, but it was also used in Hammond 122 Leslie's and the B3 organ could come with bass pedals.

This all being said, for bass guitar the 2-15 CTS , JBL 140, or Altec 421, loaded cabs are best for bass.
