I've inherited a Kustom PA-10 Mixer Amp and a pair of Kustom Pro 15P speakers. I don't know what the specs are on the amp or what the impedance is on the speakers, but I find that the volume is so loud with the 2 speakers that when I turn the master volume up to 2 it's REALLY loud. I’m afraid I’m new to this equipment thing. I know this is a pretty primitive setup, but I don’t have much $ so I need help improvising.

1) Are those speakers intended to work with the PA-10?
2) What can I do about the volume?

3) How can I use monitors? Would it make sense to wire in 2 speakers in series to increase the impedance and maybe give a little more leeway on the volume control? If so is there some sort of inline volume control I can add to either the monitor or main speakers so they can be adjusted separately?

4) There are two jacks on the front of the amp:
a) Main Exp Input - What would that be used for?

b) Main Mix Output - If my suggestion for monitors above doesn’t make sense, would it make sense to run a basic stereo amp with 2 speakers off that output for monitors?

Thanks for helping a PA newbie!
J

We're using it for vocals only. There are 4 channels with two 1/4 inch jacks on each. Hi Lo EQ, Reverb on each. One master vol and reverb. Two jacks in back for speakers with a label that says 4 ohm minimum load. Then there are the two jacks in front that I mentioned: There are two jacks on the front of the amp: a) Main Exp Input and b) Main Mix Output
Thanks,
J

Well if its loud and clean thats a good thing! Those speakers are fine, you should always run the master volume at 3/4s to full on and then just crack the mic channel volumes open for the most clean head room before ditortion.Run the monitors off the main out jack to a power amp, to the monitors. The exp in and out jacks are for pluging in effects like a delay .

Thanks for your reply, Steve. There are 2 things I'm still puzzled about. 1) What can I do about the volume being so powerful with those speakers that if I turn the master past 1 or 2 it's too loud and tends to feedback? 2)There are only those two jacks in front: a) Main Exp Input and b) Main Mix Output. How do I connect to a delay unit and to an extra amp for monitors? Thanks! J

Is there no volume control for each channel? The main exp input may go right to the power amp section of the mixer, plug your guitar into it, if the output is low than thats whay that jack is.
