Congrats on being a Kustom owner and welcome to the board! On the speakers we need to know how you want to use the amp? Bass? guitar? Keys? That is the critical thing to selecting speakers for the Kustoms as all the heads are voiced about the same. There will be a number (1 through 5) after the K200B...what is that? and most important....what color is you Kustom? BC Cool

Another welcome to the forum JLElectric. Sounds like you have the same rig that I do, except that my CTSs are in great shape. I mentioned this in the thread above this one and I'll mention it to you as well. I'm upgrading the cab with the optional JBL D140Fs and may sell the original CTSs that are in it. Haven't decided to do that yet, but I thought that I'd throw this out to you as a possibility. Enjoy your Kustom. Cool

All right! A black K200B-1 bass rig. If I could only have one amp, this is what it would be.....but I lean to red sparkle! 16 ohm CTS 15s wired parallel is likely the original load. Kustom also offered Altec 421-A and JBL D140 speakers as the extra cost options. As a bass player I personally prefer the Altecs and you can still find these as well as the JBLs if you want to look for them. Carvin and Eminence also have 15s that some people have used as replacements. Warehouse Guitar speakers offers some very good 15s in both 8 and 16 ohms. I used a pair of these at the Kustom convention in June and they were deep and clean. I hope this helps....if not keep asking and we will try again! BC Cool

One thing I forgot to mention is that if you know you will never add another cabinet to the head, you might want to consider two 8 ohm 15s wired parallel for 4 ohm total. The 200 heads really like 4 ohms! That is as low as you should go. BC Cool

My plans are to get two 8 ohm 15's. I was thinking the jensen mod 15" 8 ohm 200 watt. Im just gonna use the one cabinet for bass. the jensen was about 129.99 each. Or do you recommend something else. around 130 each is my price range. would parallel mean red and black to one speaker and red black off that one, to the other.

The two 8 ohm speakers like you say red to red and black to black will be parallel. I don't know if the Jensen MOD speakers are designed for bass guitar. If your spending around 130.00 for each speaker, then maybe go the peavey black widows. Their around 140.00 each in the discount mags. For guitar amps, I've been using the cheapest Jensen MOD speakers. 35.00 for a 10" and around 42.00 for the 12" model. Not being a bass player, I'm sure the guys will have some other recomendations for what works best. Since the K200 only puts out 100 watts rms into the 4 ohm load, getting speakers with a high power rating, IMO is money wasted, in parallel each speaker is taking 50% of the rated output of the amp. A 100 watt amp pushing 4 speakers the speakers only need to be 25 watts each.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Don
