Hi all, just found this forum after searching for Kustom/Kasino info online.
I picked up a pair of Kasino Thea model speakers, each has 2 15"s and a horn. They also have the built in 125w amplifier modules. Big beasts but they will make a welcome addition to my basement home theater.
Can anyone identify who made the speakers inside?
The horn says "SA 422" and the 15's have a remanufactured to original specs 5/25/76 sticker and part # 038-0055-00.
Any info or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

My band back then had those same powered cabinets with the 8 channel mixer and it was a welcome step up from the K200 with the two 4-12 columes we had been using for many years.
Those 15 inch drivers are of Eminence manufacture.

Eminence drivers huh, good to know.
Hooked them up and boy those horn tweeters really throw the highs. There isn't as much thump as I expected from the 15s but maybe that's because they're not home stereo speakers and lack a crossover. I don't know if there was a crossover originally because the amp sections have been bypassed and the speakers are wired direct. Looks like whoever did it just added a binding post to the original wiring and disconnected the amps too. They also removed the A/C cords so I'll have to replace those to get the amps going.

I'd look over the inside of the cabinets. There should be a 4Mf 50vdc capacitor in series with the horn as the simple crossover. If it's gone and the horn is wired directly to the speakers you can damage the driver if your trying to get more bass from the cabinets. Since the speakers if original are designed for high power ratings, you won't get a lot of low end without really hitting them with a lot of power.

Can't find anything on the net about the Kasino THEA and the KPN-200-0167-04 amplifiers.
Does anyone have any info regarding schematics or proper way to take them apart? I don't want to just start removing screws and have things fall apart.

click on the literature tab on the left side of your screen, then click Kasino and click on Public Address photo, and then click on the Theatre page. The cab houses two 15" speakers and horn with the power amp mounted on the back panel. If you remove the power amp, there will be a speaker plug to unplug from the power module and the amp will easy to remove. You can also take the complete back panel off with the power amp, but you will still have to unplug the speaker plug from the amp. There shouldn't be any thing falling apart. The power module is PC5021 and is listed in the Technical tab on the left.

part # 038-0055-00 is a Kustom part number, if you get the part number from the outside on the back of the speaker frame I can tell you exactly what the speakers are for sure. It just can't start with 038.
Thanks,
Took the whole back off and all looked well inside. One of the cabinets had a 'blown' horn driver, but I unscrewed it and then opened it up, found that the open circuit occurred out at the edge, so I was able to resolder and it now works fine.
Put it all back together and I think I'm good to go.
I did not find any Literature Tab to open up, but will keep looking for it. Seems like a pretty simple power amp.
Thanks,

Just go to http://www.vintagekustom.com/ and you will find the main page. You must have entered the forum through a link from a search. This way will put the info on the LH side of your page so you can use it all the time. There is a ton of great info there.
