There was a May 29, 2013 article on the Gretsch website about the years the Gretsch brand was owned by Baldwin: 1967-1985. Those were not very successful years for the Gretsch brand. That article also said "Baldwin bought the Kustom amplifier company in 1979, but a pairing of it with Gretsch proved both futile and short lived." I thought I had seen references on this site to Baldwin taking over Kustom around 1971 when Ross left Kustom. Can anybody clarify or correct the differences in dates?

Baldwin bought out Kustom in summer (June) of 1971 as far as all that I have learned. Pleat can tell you the exact history and I am sure he will answer this post.
