Ladies and Gentlemen, You folks have been so helpful to a 'newbie' in terms of suggestions, advice, history of Kustoms, etc. I play some acoustic guitar so I thought I'd check in with some of their "For Sale" stuff on their chat boards and post a request. I asked if they see or hear of a Kustom product give me an e-mail. On the chance. Got a few nibbles, one a Kustom guitar on E-Bay. Didn't look bad. The other e-mail I received was from a fellow in N. Carolina who told me his dad had a Kustom amp with 100 watts (?) who used to play it through some Kustom cabinets. The head was traded long ago but he still has the cab's in storage. He thinks the speakers are probably no good but who knows? He reported that the two cab's were 3X12's and 3X15's. Was there such a configuration as 3X12? I know there were 3X15's but 3X12's? He described the color as 'Mother-Of-Pearl.' No condition was indicated. Anyway, I can put you generous folks in touch with the fellow if anyone is interested. Little Willy '2'Shoes

They did make some 3x12 cabs. I used to play in a band down here with a guy that had a red one. The pearl he is referring to is probably what Kustom calls Silver and we go by as white. They are not a real brite white and they have the silver flake in them so thats probaby why he refers to them as pearl. I knew a guy down here that was pretty well off. His dad got him two 4x12 PA columns and head in silver. Plus two 3x15 cabs and a 400 head. When he sold them he said it would be out of town from down here as he did'nt want any one here to get them and him have to see them again. So I might just be willing to shove off for north carolina if the price were right.

the 3x12 ....have one in black...nice cab on larger stage...you need to get the speakers working so they fill up the air space and then the cab really starts to impress..but in the house...I wasn't even pleased with it... I've played my rig on the local arena stage (a 9,000 seater) and it made a good visual statement and was plenty loud enough at volume with me about 15 ft out in front of it..if the silver naugha is in good shape then a 3x12 cab is a cool thing to have..if the white is faded gold, badly ragged etc. then a 3x12 is a big cab with a lot of bad looking landscape...I live in Charlotte NC, if the rigs are anywhere close by I'd be happy to go eyeball them in person for you.. I'm not in the market myself, although a local deal with no shipping on those big cabs is always a nice find..but I'm broke, so a safe bet I won't steal them from you......ET

I suspose the 3x12 cabs have the same problems build in that a 3x15 does of not internal volume. But I'd like to have one as I don't have a 3x12 in my little collection. I need a blue or red amp now to add it too.

yeah...you definitely need a 3x12 rig...every serious kollector should have one! in fact if I were still touring on large venues I'd probably build out a set of 3 all in blue or white (silver)..that's make a cool backline! they are a great size cab..make a heck of a visual statement on stage...just not the best sounding of the kustoms...course in all fairness I'm running Jensons in this one...some CTS might warm things up enough to make the difference. I've also known a bassist who used a combination of a single 2x15 cab and the 3x12 cab loaded with bass drivers for his club rig...gave him a nice range for rock n blues.
