I just got a slightly funky Sidewinder in from WI yesterday. The grill is gross, been spray painted a few times (apparently by LARRY . . lol)and the paint has also screwed up the silver piping around the grill. Haven't tried cleaning off the piping with thinner or anything yet, but was wondering if there was anything I could replace it with that you guys had heard about.

I don't think I'd use thinner on the plastic piping, it might melt it. I've said many times, I remove the baffle board and head to the car wash. Power wash and rinse. It might take a few times in the wash cycle but I've removed silver spray painted lighting bolts off the grill cloth. Once the final rinse, I use the car wash vacuum to remove the excess water and let it sit in the sun for an hour to let it dry.

You might use Goof-Off to clean the piping since they claim it won't harm plastic and have used it on my bass ports to remove spray paint.

The spray paint on the grill looks like several applications and pretty thick. Soap and water don't sound too likely to cut it, even under pressure, but I guess it's at least worth a try.

The Goof Off sounds promising, maybe even on the grill before pressure washing.

UPDATE:

The Sidewinder got plugged in and played through. I didn't think the noise unplugged was very bad. It sounds great overall. My hope is that a new reverb tank and some tarting up will get it back to gigging!
