I've recently put my 30-year old Kustom 200 B-1 2x15 bass amp back into use as a guitar amp after not playing for 15 years. To "make it into" a guitar amp, I added a Danelectro reverb pedal and a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal. Since I'm playing through the Normal Channel (Bright channel picks up radio), I also added a Danelectro 7-band EQ pedal. The amp sounds fantastic!! (and LOUD!!!)
To think that I [briefly] thought of trading it in on a newer amp......I'm glad I kept it. It was my first 'real' amp. We have been through a lot together and it has a lot of sentimental value. It's a perfect amp for my Epi 'Dot' semi-hollow.

I keep a Fender Reverb unit around just for plugging into one of several Kustom bass amps. I've played my ES-330 plugged into a ported 1x15 K100SC via the Reverb unit - that combination sounds excellent. Probably similar to your Epi 'Dot', with not quite the wattage.
Oh by the way, I have neglected to Welcome you to the Site. I think our paths crossed once before, on the FDP. "Haltone" and I were conversing with you on a Kustom thread that possibly you initiated. I may have i.d.'d myself as "the farmer from Illinois". Anyway, Welcome!
Hi Roy, Thanks for the Welcome!
I remember conversing with you on the FDP. Yes, I did initiate that thread. I received 45 responses! That's when I was deciding whether or not to sell/trade my Kustom. There were a few detractors (I think most of those never owned a Kustom). But the overwhelming majority (including you, as I remember) encouraged me to keep it. Thanks to you & the others I'm playing my Kustom again and I've found new friends over here at Vintage Kustom. Thanks......Gene
Welcome, Gene. I have been trying to get the computer straightened out, and I think I have got it figured out. Well it works. I agree, the best thing is to have kept the amp. The only problem I can see is that you will still need about 30 more kustoms to really have a varity of colors and sounds. I normally play out with a K50 single 12, and the last gig I took out a red K100-1 with the 2x12 jensen cabinet. Add a digitech processor pedal in front of the amp, and it sings all night long. Anyway a hearty welcome to you, and all the other new people who have found the best group of people I have ever met. Don
Thanks for the Welcome, Don.
You brought up an interesting point and I'm curious.......
It seems that most, if not all, folks over here at Vintage Kustom are musicians (not just collectors). But it also seems that you all have more than a couple Kustoms. On average, how many amps do you guys (and gals) own?
Working bass player in a blues band here. Kustom is all I use anymore.....the hard part is trying to decide which one to take! I usually keep twenty-something Kustoms around here. .....several kolors and sizes...different cabs and amps for different size rooms. You can't have too many! Glad to have you! BC!

Female bass player and guitarist here. Been playing for 30 years now. Started playing Saturday night parties at age 12. My answer to how many Kustoms do we have each is NOT ENOUGH, NEVER ENOUGH, NEED MORE!!!!! I have only 10 at the moment, but I'm planning on getting a few super clean ones over the winter.
Gene, I think that most all of us are players. I even know of a guy who can strum out a mean bass line to Louie Louie. At thi time I have 54 different pieces of kustom tuck and roll. It's hard to count, but it's a job I do enjoy. I have something in every color, plus the kool black fabric kustom introduced in the early 70's. Biggest problem I'm having now is trying to decide what I want to use tomorrow night. Don

I think we all have some that we want totally restored, especially when we are fussy....like me, JC, and a few others I'm sure. The beauty of it is that these Kustoms are easy to get fixed!
