Hey, I am new here; I'm looking to pick up my first Kustom guitar head very soon. I am thinking about picking up a K250 head that is being sold with a very standard looking, unknown name cab. The only problem with the head is the reverb is out, and it needs a new tank. This would cost $250 (the head + cab), which seems like a pretty good deal (I've been doing some research on ebay and such). I guess I'm wondering what you all think of it...
Does anyone know what's up with this amp? I am looking for an amp to play guitar out of, but also occasionally some keyboard, maybe bass and other electronic stuff. I don't need insanely loud, but I want to be able to comfortably play small shows for sure. With this (above) amp I'd have to pick up a cab as well, which would put the total cost at around at least $300...I'm simply looking for a good deal and a good amp. Thanks for your help!

That is a K300 PA amp. Six sepatate channels, each with bass, treble reverb and volume. Master tone section and anti feedback. Very advanced for the day. Huge and heavy. Originally was 150 watts RMS. If the description is true, I question the story, it would be a nice deal. Run anything you want through it. I will sound good. You definately need the right speaker combination for your application. I won't make any recommendations. Try to stick with Kustom just for the stage appeal. The 3x15 cabinets get pretty large to transport. Look through the literature section here and then try to match the speakers to your needs. I have seen everything on Ebay and Craigs list. You will find that amo in the 150/300/600 section. Good luck and Keep in touch.

Sorry, I misled you on where to find that head. I guess I was just making things up. Go to literature then to other T&R then to PA systems. There you will find the amp you are thinking about.

I will echo Conrad's statement about using the head for anything. I have used one for vocals...guitar and even as a bass amp and it works well for all of them. I also question how it has been modified for 500 watt output but I am not a tech. Maybe Steve can tell us if that is possible. Good find and good luck and welcome to the board ) ! BC

The cabinet will depend on your use. Kustom amps are voiced the same. For bass.....I personally like a 2x15 . Younger guys like 4x10s. Kustom made some nice 4x12 cabs for guitar in tuck and roll also....but to me the vertical 3x12 sounds better. I am really a fan of Altec 15" speakers for guitar. John Fogarty uses JBL D130 15" in the Kustom that made CCR famous. A pair of 15" plus horn PA cabinets might be the most use to you to fill multiple applications. Kustom amps work great with effects pedals as they do not color the sound. They let the true pedal effect come right through. Many tube amps will not do that without altering the tone. So basically...the amp will do anything if you select the right cabinet for the application.
Also, before you buy check out all the channels and effects on the amp. Every channel....every input....every control. If the amp sounds great but only has four or five working channels....don't abandon it....negotiate! BC
