I'm thinking in terms of price and in terms of tone and sound. I WISH for the life of me I could use this as the 'Horns' for my 2 2x15 cabs (getting another one tonight) but I doubt that'll happen without major surgery. So... what should I put in this? I'll be using stevem's K-150 when he comes back from wherever he went on vacation (speaking of... er... another post).

Shaun... Parts Express has round 10" horns and drivers in thier latest flyer...Check them out and you'll have what is needed to get it up and running...you might have to spraypaint them to get the old Kustom look but it would look right at least. I have done business with them and have ordered many things and have not been unhappy with them ever...

Shaun... Dayton H10RW 1" threaded waveguide...Several suitable drivers are available from Partsexpress.com. You could get reasonable drivers and everything for 50-60 bucks and get that 2-10 horn cab back in operation. I have built several speakers for musical instrument use...I am thinking of using one of the 12 " waveguides in the columns I have to add some treble response...

Okay, thanks for the tip!

This is more of a question for Don or Pleat... maybe they've done this?

The 2x10, can that be set up to act as the 'horns' on a Kustom 250 bass cabinet? Is there any way I can do that? I suppose now that I have a 200 it really doesn't matter, but would that work?

Just a heads up ~ Don Thompson is Pleat. Even tho he has enough Kustom info for two people and is a Giant of a man - alas, one man.

JC, not sure I know that much, but I have been around Kustoms since 1966. On the 2x10 horn cabinet. It is 2" narrower in width than a K200 2x15 cabinet. So you may want to stack it on top of the amp head. If you do put the round horns in it from Parts Express, you will want to use 16 ohm drivers and wire them in parallel. you will also want to use a crossover to protect the drivers from low frequencys. Kustom used a simple capacitor of 4 MF at 50vdc. Wire the cap in serie from the input jack to the first driver. So in a perfect world, your 2x15 cabinet should be 8 ohms, the horn cabinet will be 8 ohms and both cabinets to the K200 will be a 4 ohm total load. I see the horns in PExpress suggests a cross over point of 1600 Hz. Someone may want to jump in and let us know where the 4 Mf. cap cut off point is. If I remember right it should be around 2K.
