I have a nice K200 B amp but have never had a speaker cab for it. The plate on the back of the amp gives no ohm rating for speakers. I want to buy a cab to go with it what Ohm speakers will work with this amp. I am not a electronics whiz but I do know this is important. Appreciate any info. Do you know where I can date the amp from by the serial #??
Hi,
If you are going to use one speaker cabinet, then 4 ohms is the best choice.
8 ohms is OK, too, but the K200 won't put out it's full power.
If you are going to use two speaker cabinets, then you want 8 ohms for each cabinet.
What is your serial number?

Thanks Les!
By 1 or 2 cabinets do you mean full stack or 1/2 stack or 1 or 2 speakers?
Serial # is 64391. The full model # is K200B. I think it is a bass amp. It is rolled and tucked I think the color is charcoal. Thanks again!

The amount of speakers in any given cabinet does not matter, the main concern is what the overall impeadnace of the cabinet is, which is usally taged or labled on the rear of the cabinet.
The K200B model will output over 90 watts rms into a 4 ohm rated speaker or speaker cabinet, or some 60 watts rms into a 8 ohm cabinet.
A 8 ohm cabinet being drivin by 60 watts is still loud and if you are playing 6 string guitar my cover your volume needs just fine, but if you are playing bass live with a loud drummer with other guitar players strumming thru 4-12" cabinets, your going to want that full power that the amp has when driving a 4 ohm load.

Hey, welcome to the group, and congrats on your acquisition! One minor point, though: When speaking of Kustoms, the term "stack" is not normally used. Kustom speaker cabs are usually placed side-by-side, as pictured in the catalogs. Kustom never sold a stackable cabinet (like a 4x12) until the late 1990s reissues. Yeah, you could turn two speaker cabs on their sides and stack them that way, but it would look kind of weird, imho.
Gotta get the lingo right so you don't look like a newbie!

Thank you guys for making me feel welcome and sharing your information. I'm sure I'll be posting more comments and questions as I rehab this amp head. It's in pretty good shape just needs a good cleaning inside and out.
