Sorry for my ignorance, I'm trying to understand the schematic Don emailed me.

What type are the original switches? DPST?

What is the voltage rating of the bulbs? Wattage?

The resistors are 330 ohm, correct?

I'm attempting to build one of these.

The switches are Single Pole Double Throw, SPDT. One contact (pole) that can be connected to two points (throws).

You can use one half of a double pole switch if you can't find the single pole type.

The bulbs are GE335 or equivalent. 28v, I'd have to look up the current rating. Edit: 0.04 amps

The resistors are 330 ohms 1/2 watt.

SPDT now makes sense to me. Grounding turns off the effect.

I wonder if I could just use LED indicators instead of the light up windows for the bulbs.
I'll have to see if there are 28V LEDs out there.

The effect is turned off when the correct pin is grounded. The light turns on when the pin is open and the light is grounded.

The original foot switch had little backlit name labels for each effect. The bulbs were turned on slightly through the 300 ohm resistor so that you could read the label. When the effect was turned on the bulb lit up to full brightness.

If you want to use leds instead of the bulbs you just need to use a series resistor to limit the current through the led. You can also eliminate the 330 ohm resistors.

Well, went out and bought all the parts necessary including a new XLR receptacle for the amp.
Spent almost $90.
That added up quickly! Smile

They sold me the wrong XLR male for the cable, so back tomorrow I go! Laughing

Mission accomplished......almost.

Been to the parts store twice now, and both times I forgot to pick up the 1N5359A Diode! DOH!
So, I'll have to wait until monday to see if it works.
Radio Shack doesn't have it.
As far as I've been able to find out, it's a Zeener Diode that's a 24V regulator. (?)

Still on the work bench.

YAY! I found the diode at Fry's this morning.

The foot switch works GREAT!

My K 250-4 is now complete!

Great job! Now you can rock like it's 1972 again.

I'd probably prefer having the cable for the footswitch on the backside of the box, out of the way. Maybe you have a reason for the front mount.

Anyway great job.
