Greetings to all! So i am the owner of a 2x15 cabinet and 200w head. I don't use the head anymore as i now use a GK 700RB-II but the cabinet still rocks....well...until i accidentally had the volume on my effects pedal too high when i first tried it and blew a speaker. Ouch! So after reading some posts on this site i decided to go with some Eminence Legend 15" speakers.

Here's a link to some photo's i took during the process:
Speakers

When i originally purchased the amp and cabinet it didn't have casters so i lugged it around without such (i was 18 at the time). Thankfully i got some heavy duty casters on it but the one started to come loose from the bottom so i had to reposition and remount it. All good now. It's not in the prettiest shape which i'm sure some people will yell at me for (hey i don't blame ya)

Opening it up you can see the 2 altec lansing speakers. I bought this a long time ago from some dude so i'm not surprised about the non factory wiring and a few non factory bolts. I tried to get a good pic of the rip in the top speaker. The bottom speaker looked ok but i felt it better to have matching speakers. I forgot to take a pic of the new wiring (i used brand new 16 gauge wire). After i closed it all up i tested it out, sounds awesome. I feel bad that it doesn't have the old altec lansing speakers but i might see if i can get the one fixed.

In closing, if anyone needs to replace speakers for this type of cabinet...i suggest the Eminence Legend series.

Nice to here your keep'n it going! Looks aren't everything, it all comes down to sound and usability in working equipment. I'm going to assume that the head for the cabinet was a K200, which is only rated 100 watts RMS. Those look like Altec 421A speakers which are awesome speakers and a major upgrade in price and quality, but keep in mind they're only rated at 100 watts if you plan on reusing them. It is a great match to the K100, K150, K200 and K250 models cause of the light weight flat wound aluminum voice coil, fiber cone structure and generous magnet for stability which makes it very versital for lower wattage amplifiers. I have those in a couple of my tuck n roll cabinets and they are, like I said earlier, "AWESOME". If this GK-700 is 700 watts you might not try using the altecs with it. They do make the copper voice coil version 421- something, but they were only 150 watt rated. I have the K100-1 Bass combo with a single Altec 421A I use for bass on small to medium clubs and at only 50 watts RMS it handles it very well. Steve C
