Good Afternoon. I'm a new member and a new owner of a K 100-1 ser no. 45121, there is a letter or number in front of it either an 8 or S but is not stamped in the plate. I bought this amp head yesterday. It is missing the output plug looks like two wires were cut. Owner has not used it since about 1980 or so. Ther is a 3 way toggle switch on the back with out a label so I am not sure what it does. Does anyone have a schematic for this amp? I am sure I will have to have it checked out as it still has a 2 prong cord on it. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. These kustom amps amd Bandmasters were the mains amps when I was a teenager and I have wanted one for a long time.

I have some schematics listed by PC number. What is the KEI PC number on the board? Steve C

Welcome to the place Larry. It's always good to have another Kustom fan here. Your amp sounds like it need a little work to get it back in shape, but once it is, you'll be a very happy man.

The 3-way switch is the power switch. The center position is off and the two on positions are the line reverse feature. As Steve C mentioned, Kustom marked all of the PC boards with a number. The schematics are also marked with this number.

If you PM your email address to me, I can send you a copy of the schematic that you need.

Good Afternoon,

I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you with the number. I had a problem with my main amp so it needed my attention more than this one did. Health issues slowed me down as well. I looked on the board and found this number KEI-1 PC103. Is that what you are needing? One of my issues is the output jack on the rear is missing. There is a blue wire and a heavy black wire that needs to be soldered to the jack but I am not sure where either wire goes on the jack. I know I need to change the 2 prong cord to a 3 which shouldn't be a problem. Any help would be fantastic.

Thanks,
Larry

The 2 wires for the output jack should be blue soldered to tip contact and the black soldered to ground or barrel contact. The black is usually from the center tap wire from between the 2 power filter caps. The blue is from the output of the driver board. I dont have the schematic in front of me but I'm thinking this 103 board is the driver, regulator and pre amp all in one attatched to the front panel by the controls. If so you got a good one there. Two channels: Bright for shimmering surf and Normal with tons of robust tone for anything else you could imagine!! I've had both 1 and 2, the 2 model is great too but not the fullness of the normal channel on the 1 model, but that could just be my opinion. Normal testing on these is all controls full up and no load (No Speaker connected). So plug that puppy in the wall power it up check that blue wire for any DC voltage and ya cant find any hook a speaker and see what ya got. Go to the link below and you can print off the schematic.

Thanks a lot. I will work on it this week. I'm sure that I need to put a grounded plug on it. I have fond memories of getting the crap shocked out of me with amps with 2 prong plugs. Several months ago I got shocked practicing with a band in a bassment. Turned out I was standing on wet carpet as was my amp. Fun.

Thanks again
Larry
