Found a good deal from Strings and Beyond. For every set that you buy, they'll give you another set FREE. If you put in "freeshipmay" in the shipping area, it's FREE too. Go to www.stringsandbeyond.com, click Specials, then click 1.Dunlop BOGO special and go from there. I ordered a set of nickel 45s Saturday night and got 2 sets today (Tuesday) in the mail for $21.50 including $1.55 tax. Deal is for guitar strings too. Very Happy

I've been using Darco Funky Strings for about 35 years. They are made by Martin. Americanmusicalsupply.com has them for 26.95 for a Dozen sets. These are the brightest, longest lasting, most consistant string I have ever used and that works out to 2.25 a set and there is no out of state tax.

I rarely buy regular guitar strings, but that does indeed sound like a great deal for a 6 string. A clarification - the tax is because I'm located in the same state (which I didn't know) that Strings and Beyond is. Cool

Off topic, but a FYI. I recently needed a set of strings for my Dean 4-string acoustic bass. It was wearing a set of Dean Markley's, and I had been very happy with the sound and durability. I have been playing it a lot, and they were going dead. I have been reading about Elixir strings for years in Bass Player and other mags, and I really hate the phosphor bronze "smell" that gets on your hands while playing, so I decided that the Elixir coated strings might be worth the extra expense. Well, I ordered a set and installed them on the Dean. I had really liked the piano-like brightness that I achieved with the Dean Markley's, but the Elixir's gave me none of that. These are some of the most "dead" sounding strings that I have ever heard !! I must say that I am very unimpressed ! I may like the "Jamerson" thud on some of my electrics, but not on this acoustic ! It has been my first and last experience with Elixir strings - I will return to the tried and true ! just relaying my experience and opinion here ! - Philip Braud
