I own a Kustom 2 Valve guitar amplifier. I purchased this in Centralia, Illinois at a music store in the 90's. It has two channels with a built in reberb, phase shifter, and chorus. I believe it has two ten inch speakers. The cabinet is solid wood. It is a natural light colored wood with NO vinyl covering it. I had to put a special oil on the wood to keep it from cracking. The grill cloth is a light brown almost the color of burlap. It has a great tone and plenty of volume. I used it on stage when I was younger in several different bands. I have never seen another amplifier like it.
I was just wondering if this is now a vintage amp and how many of these were made? What do you think the value of this amp is now?

If its not covered in tuck & roll, its not a vintage model.
If you do a search on ebay for completed acutions to get an idea as to how much these amps have gone for.

I searched on Ebay and did not find any amps like mine. I finally did find info on my amp. I was mistaken though. It is a Kustom 4 Valve Studio Series. It was made in Kansas and it is considered vintage. However I still do not know the value-but I am not interested in selling it. Just wanted to know what it was worth so I could let my wife know.

The amp you have is the Kustom Studio Valve series. Solid state pre-amp and tube output. Kustom offered three versions 50/100/150 watt wood cabinet or black tolex. The combo amps came with 2x12" celestion speakers or single 15" EV SRO speaker. My literature didn't mention a phase shifter, but does have chorus and reverb. The amps came with two output tubes = 50 watts, four tubes = 100 watts, and 6 tubes = 150 watt. This was a Baldwin owned Kustome and would be 83 or 84 era.

So then it has to age 2 or 3 more years for it to be vintage if it was born in 83.

No, it still isn't a vintage Kustom as the vintage models are those that have tuck and roll and were made in Chanute Kansas. There are a few kustoms that had no tuck and roll that were good stuff, but they just aren't collectable without the tuck and roll.

For the dedicated kustom T&R collector the amp is cool, but without the T&R not many here will have much interest. The good news is that for dedicated tube amp collector, it would be a nice piece of tube history. It were all tube, you would have a wider range of tube amp collectors that might want one to add to his collection.

Hello All. To you Pleat, there are no chorus on the Studio Valve Series! But a flanger. And this is very good. I agree that this is not a vintage Kustom amp/Tuck an roll, but I think this is way better than the transistor-amps(alle the Tuck and roll)sorry.

You are correct, the amp does have flanger, not chorus, my fault. Not sure why I typed chorus, since I have all the lit on the amp, I guess it's time for new glasses.
That's the cool thing about amps, everyone has favorites, some love tubes, some love SS. I personally have found no other amp that accepts processor pedals as well and the early SS Kustoms.

I totally agree Pleat. I Have freinds go down and spend $800 to $1000 to buy Tube amps and every time we jam together their wanting me to get theres to sound like mine, "GO FIGURE". I'll admit at times they can blow me away in volume when their pushing them tubes into distortion, but not many. I set a Digitech RP-50 and a Boss SD-1 in front of the amp and there ain't too many sounds I can't get. Not to mention every vintage model Kustom has that same capability from the little K-50 to K200's, you just have to dicide how big you want it. If its a Tuck N Roll Plexi face your good to go. I even have love for the K150-2's on a 212B cab "Tuck N Roll that is, those 739 chips can sound mighty warm when you get them heated up. Stevem says the "A" models, and I'll include the Frankenstiens with that, have a warmer sound still that I find to be absolutly true although I have to disagree with the reason. Yea, everyones got there favorite. Steve C

PS: I just took a chassis of a Frankenstein with Reverb and Tremolo that I got off Ebay and built the cab, Tuck N Rolled it , went through the circuits and got it running tip top. I'm going to use that for my next gig sitting on top the Blue Sparkle T&R Laydown frank cab I built with those two 10" Copperhead. It sounds incredible, hopefully I'll get some video of the gig to post.

I got 2 Gibson tube-amps, a` 30W class A and a 60W A/B, both Super Goldtone , and you do not need pedals for those monster/rock and roll amps. But I love my Kustom amps.
