I have a K-50 with a bad treble/bright pot. The bright push/pull works fine but the treble just spins and doesn't make any adjustment. I am looking for a replacement pot new or used or for a way to try to repair the original pot. Any ideas bill or anyone else?
Because Kustom used special pots on all but the Frankie heads, you will not be able to find a replacement very easily. Antique Electronics used to have some NOS parts, but I don't know if they have or ever had the pot that you need. The main problem is the mounting method. They mount through the pc board, so they have a very long threaded mounting shaft.
There may be a broken piece inside the pot that is not allowing the shaft to turn the wiper, or the wiper is not contacting the resistance element, or the resistance element may be broken.
Does the knob turn 360 degrees or does it still stop at the normal ends?
What I've done in the past, is remove the pot from the board and take it apart. Then I can fix or replace whatever needs to be done. I will use internal parts from new pots to.

Thanks Bill. I may have to look for a doaner. The knob turns 360 degrees with no stops and no change in sound. The push pull works though. I may take the Trem/vibe knob and move it over to the treble spot. I don't care about the trem/vibe.
Bart, I got a pot here with a broken shaft you may be able to use to fix yours The #'s on it are 133-0020-00 and 137-7034. I also have a couple of the dual pots with a switch but dont know the values on them other than they have 137-7034 and 133-0028-00stamped on them. If anyone has a parts list to ID the pots, maybe we have a match. Let me know if I can help, e mail me at

Mine is like one of the 3 black ones on the left as it is a push/pull for bright and treble. the push pull works great and the treble doesn't register at all and turns 360 degrees. I want to be able to adjust the treble....lol!

Thanks for the phone call today Steve, it was very nice talking with you. Thank you very much for sending the pot to me so I can get this thing repaired. I am sure that one way or the other will fix it. I super glued all of the plastic pieces back together and the stops work now but the whipper works to about half way and then goes to null so I have off to half then off after that....lol! I normally run on halfway anyway, but it has to done correctly.
I'll still get it out to you and that should get it working with full control. Glad to be able to help, I cant take these parts with me when I'm gone and I'm sure I dont need three while I'm here. Let me know when ya get it in and what results you get. Steve C
The three I've got are checking out at 56 K on the top pot and the bottom pot is 205 K or to be exact its .205 on the 2 M setting of my meter. Will it still be ok? Steve C
