Did the early Frankie cabs have a handle that had four screws
holding the insert? I have a Frankie w/Cab that someone had made
wood inserts for it and it has 4 screws holding them in. Just wondered if 2 extra screws added or that"s how the early ones came. Serial # 2912 C495
Thanks much,
Dan

The early Frankie cabs have an all black plastic handle like you woud see on a briefcase or guitar case. These are pictured in the 66 Frankie catalog in the literature section. The only change that I've ever seen are the handles we all know of. The metal strap with plastic insert with two twist nails to secure the handle to the strap. There is someone on Ebay selling wooden inserts, but his only use two screws. I'd think your handles are something someone made up in the past before you got the cab.

Hi Pleat,
Thanks for the reply and the info. I have the metal strap with the insert and someone had replaced the plastic with wood(nicely done I might add) but it has 4 screws. 2 on top instead of twist nails and 2 on the sides, which must have been added. I never realized the early ones had black plastic handles which I guess mine had orginally, interesting. I did pick up a couple of the replacement handles that JC had for sale. If these Kustoms could only tell their tales, would sure be interesting the journeys they have taken.
Thanks again,
