Hello fellow Kustom fans,
I have a Kustom 200a-5 4 channel amp.I am in need of the following schematics, PC502, PC602, PC102, PC702. Can anyone let me know where I can get them...free?
Much appreciated,
Michael
No problem. To answer your question regarding the blown fuse, the two main reasons for blown fuses are shorted transistors (output and driver) and shorted power supply diodes.
If you have a multimeter with a diode test function, use it to test the output transistors. The most common failure is a short between Collector and Emitter. If you do find one or more shorted ones, test the drivers as well as the emitter resistors.

Folks need to be carefull when working on the A serise amps, as where they mount all the TO3 type (6) transistors on the bottom side of the amp can be a disaster if you are powered up and working on a metal bench top, of something like a metal tool rolls under the chassis!

thanks William...I've replaced all 6 power /driver transistors and will check the -/+ regulator boards. Found 1 power transistor was shorting. I'll next check the 2 regulator boards. I'll post my results when done.
Regards,
Michael

While you are at Michael I would take a close look at all of the white body Mallory electrolytic caps, as many time not only are they shorted, but the end caps have blown out and or crap is leaking out around the leads.
If you have a cap meter check them all!

Thank you William ...I'll do just that. By the way, I just went over the entire power supply incl. both regulator boards. The only fault found was 1 power transistor was shorting so I replaced all 6 with the 3055 equivalent since the 4 power types were still the original ones c1967! The 2 drivers were replaced some time but also oldRCAs. Powered up the amp and heard hisssss & ch.1 distorted. Turns out it was a weak solder on a small se4002 transistor. Now amp sounds fine with just slight buzzzz I thing due to overall age of this beauty. The sound I got was nice n tight clean with just the right amount of overdrive! One thing though, depending how you physically handle the amp while powered up, the reverb tank emit loud booming type noise then settles down....any thought out there on some remedy ie cushioning of sort?I will next go over all parts on each of the 4 preamp boards.
Cheers William,
Michael
You have been getting advice from Steve as well as from me, so thanks go to him as well.
All reverb tanks will make noise when they are shaken up, but the springs (reverb and mounting) can get stretched out from age and vibrations. You could try a new tank to see if it makes less noise.

Also just to let you know the 4 original outputs are matched from Kustom and as such even though they are old they will give a tad more output and less distortion ( crossover type distortion) then the new ones you installed being as they are un-matched.
