Re: Dumb question [message #1937 is a reply to message #1936] Sat, 21 September 2002 22:36 Anonymous same here...and its always been a point of discussion among some of my fellow kustom buds...we never lost our love for each other over it, but we do have different grade opinions on what "clean" means...but when you say "mint"...yeah..it oughta look, play, etc just like its sitting on the showroom floor. i've got a few of these..they in fact have never even been in the shop. same speakers, original cover with no tears in it, etc...these rigs look better than most of the new rigs sitting on the Mars showroom floor cause somebody is always touchin that stuff with their peanut butter fingers. A worn corner, rips, no matter how small, cig burns ( oh heck no!), kitty scratches in the grill, road rash on the bottom..these all drop a rig's rating below "clean" to me, and in most cases I'd pass on the rig unless i intend for it to be a player and then I just want it to look good from off stage. As in fresh out of the box from Kustom. No nicks, scratches, gouges, slits, kitty pokings, NO problems. I've had experiences with some people that say something is mint, and then when you see it, it's not. Awhile ago, I ran into this with a guy when we were discussing a guitar he had for sale. In the end, he admitted to me that he thought mint meant "vintage, collectible, valuable" and not mint condition. I guess when someone in our group describes a piece of gear as mint, it should be deserving the designation of "mint". I know that I don't want to offend a fellow Kustom kollector by not being honest with him or her. I was thinking of this problem just this week. I usually use a number scale to describe my stuff, when possible. Like "it's an 8 out of 10" and then go on to say what flaws keep it from being a 10. A 10 to me is mint.
