Hello again - sorry to be a "post hog"..........I am restoring this K300 PA head and the master Treble pot is very noisy/scratchy. I sprayed it down with electrical contact cleaner and worked it for about 3 mins - this usually does the trick, but not this time. So, is there a special method for these Kustom pots to alleviate the scratchiness? Or is the pot just shot?
What kind of cleaner did you use? Sometimes it will take more than one application to effectively clean them.
I use and recommend Caig DeoxIt. It will work when other sprays fail and I have not had any solvent issues with it either.
If cleaning does not work, the pot may be bad or there could be a circuit problem causing the noise. For example, if a coupling cap should become leaky there will be dc voltage applied to the pot. This will cause a scratchy sound when adjusting it.
If the pot got quiet after the first cleaning, that would probably rule out the dc voltage theory. So try and clean it again or get some DeoxIt.

I also tend yo pull on the shaft and push as well while turning it to add a little pressure as this helps if there is a large amount of oxidation on the wiper.
Actually and surprisingly, after the 1st go-round of cleaning, there was not change - so, I am worried that it may be electrical. I will give it another good soaking and working (with more elbow grease per Kustom Bart's recommendation) and see if there is a change to the sound it's making.

Sometimes there is no recouse but to unsolder it, unfold the tabs that hold the front plate on and then wash it out with soapy water. Then blow dry it off, apply contack cleaner that is also a lube to and reassemble it.
If you get it apart and the carbon trace has worn thru no amount of cleaning will help and its time for a new pot.
