Well in regards to vintage mics that are not gonna break the bank to buy one you have the Shure 565, and two electro voice models , the 665 and the 664.
If it where me I may just go for a new Shure SM48 with a plug in transformer on the end of its XLR cable, or a used SM58 or SM57 as they both have been around since the early 70s
The 565 Shure mic's that Stevem suggested are one of the best mic's I've ever used. There are a lot of them on ebay and going for around $50. Don't get suckered like I did and buy one of those cheap Kustom mic's that are listed there for around $10. Made of plastic and very poor sound quality. They are no bargain at all!

Yup, I still have my 565 from when I was 15 and now I'am 59' how can you knock something that gives you that kinda service ?
Many moons ago I just swapped out its screen for one from a sm58 just so it's chrome one would not rust up any more than it had and both Mics sound very close to the point that other than a small difference in output level it's hard to tell the difference when just used for vocals.
Mine is about the same age as yours and it still looks like its new. Knock on wood, never have had a problem with it either. Just proves the point that I have always said......things back then were built to last. Not like the crap today that falls apart as soon as the warranty period is up. Only thing missing from the mic is the foam wind guard. That disintegrated 20 years ago.

I've held onto three of EV 636 Mic's that can be wired either HiZ or LoZ. Two out of three work great, the third one is more of a parts mic. Real retro looking mic's.
I think they are around 1964 or 1965 era. They are looking for a good home.
