what the heck is this? [message #2253] Tue, 24 December 2002 13:06 Go to next message

I picked up a Kustom 2-15 cabinet and have been scouring the net trying to figure out what exactly I have here, but can't seem to find any thing quite like it... It's emerald green, instead of the usual roll & tuck pattern the naugahyde is stiched in aprox 4"X6" rectangles with less padding than than the norm. It has 3 ports running vertically down one side leading me to think it may have been one half of a double 2-15 Any clue? thanks.

It's not a Kustom - Most likely a Plush ~ Around the same time frame - But tube heads ~ Believe they had a nasty law suit with Fender over the Amp ~ Looked a lot like the Twin Reverb circuitry I think - Jc

John, Yes, that sounds like a Plush - I owned one ten years ago. Mine was 49 1/2H (52" including casters)x 30 1/2W x 16D which was a "B2 Deluxe" bass cabinet. My back still hurts when I think about it. The more popular cabinet was the "B2" which was 41 x 27 x 12 - a lot easier to carry. The "B2" for bass(or "G2" for guitar)had the 3 chrome ports down the side. Mine had two 15" CTS BB2 bass speakers with 17 lb alnico magnet structures. If you have these speakers, your cabinet should be able to handle 200w RMS or more. Like Kustom, Plush cabinets were all plywood & well-made but, unlike Kustom, the speakers were front-loaded with a snap-out grille, which made changing speakers a lot easier.
