best 39.00 plus shipping i ever spent.

k 150, appears to be the same as the blown one (tho cosmetically, the blown one is way better).

sounds KILLER. very psyched. grafted the reverb assembly from the donor and set her in the box tonite.
appears to be all original except the power switch, i'll check that closer in the morning.. appears to have the death switch part disconnected, i'm gonna wire her up with a modern three conductor line cord... think i should take the switch from the donor amp to make it a bit closer to stock?

is there any way to get the plexi panel off withour destroying it? what's the secret to getting the indicator lamp chrome beauty lamp ring off? i seem to remember messing one up bad when i was a kid.

got some temp speakers for it coming tomorrow, some generic 8 ohm 4x10 to hold me over... or maybe i won't worry about it, as my old back isn't gonna wanna move it once it's loaded anyways. Wink

gratuitous porn shots of her in progress to come... will eventually have to take the grille off and launder it, looks like a cat peed in the same spot every day of it's stanky little life Wink

and a couple rips in the tnr. hopefully i can fix 'em. peace!

The plexi face comes off by removing all the knobs, then all the nuts and washers from the shafts of the pots and then the chrome face plate outer ring of the pilot lamp must be un-screwed.
When you back the circuit boards off the inside face of the amp be sure to get all the lock washers that will fall off each pot shaft.
With the plexi face off now is the time to use some gloss black Enamle paint to touch up any black coating that may have came off.
Now will also be the time to give all the pots a good flush out and lube job!

On the backside of the pilot holder there should be a large nut that holds the entire thing in place.

You will have to unsolder the wires to the resistor and power supply in order to get the pilot holder out the front of the amp. In fact it is easier to get at the nut once the wiring as been removed.

awesome. thanks for the tip.

i loaded it up with speakers, they came out of some old vertical 4x10 pa cab from the 70's, they sound killer. the amp sounds good and clean tonally, but the cosmetics are messy, so i will take your advice and try and graft on the better plexi plate to it.

it has a really sweet vibratto. real phasey/chimey. i am very psyched. i even picked up a second generic 4x10 with some blue frame jensens on top and eh 10's on the bottom so i can run her at her full 150 watt glory... should be perfect for a classic car show i gotta do in caanan in july. i'll run a double stack with the k 200 in stereo for that. love it.

again, thanks for the advice. now i just gotta get it done. Wink

yeah, the 150 series was always my fav. the best one i had was a white sparkle 2x10 i'm STILL trying to get back from the guy 20 years later.. his kids blew it up, it's stills sitting there and i can't get him to give it up. <smh>

so far all i've done is wire the cab, and mount the new head inside. i have a kay amp on my bench that's been making me crazy for almost a month now. Wink

OMG, speaking of KAY, the bass player in my first band 36 years ago had a SG style Kay bass, this thing was about 30 bucks new I think, strings were about a foot from the fret board, I had a nice Epi, lead player had a Gibson L6s and he was a year younger than us so he was 12 and the drummer was 12 too and had a nice set of Ludwigs. The lead player always used to ask the bass player "What the hell does Kay stand for anyway? I think that is Japanese for PILE of shit" lmao! We used to ride him hard about it, but he darn hear wore holes through the tips of his fingers playing it finger style and had a forearm like GI Joe with that Kung-Fu grip. I finally learned guitar set-up and got the neck kind of straight and got the strings down and he could really play it then.... Sorry back on subject, I just saw Kay and couldn't resist sharing the story...lol!
