FYI there's a couple of pictures inside the new Tom Petty disk of Mike Campbell playing a Kustom guitar. He often uses a Kustom 250 in his amp line-up, too.

Mike Campbell got a 250 with 4x12 cabinet from Joey Flippen in Florence AL. Joey had a nice Kustom collection together and sold several pieces. I met him in 99 when I started my Kustom chase. He told me about the amp he sold to Campbell and revealed he had found the cover for the 4x12 cabinet he needed to send. I convinced him that guys on that level moved their gear in padded road cases and that he would really not need a vinyl cover......so ET now covers his 4x12 with that cover. I have heard that Joey sold all or most of his Kustoms....but I have not talked with him in a while. I think Conrad's cascade siren PA cabinets were sold by Joey to Music go round Huntsville....then they found their way to Conrad......on a tip from Kustom Dan! It's a small tuck and roll world!BC

small world in deed...I'm glad you remembered all that detail BC.. I had told some folks that my cover was Tom's actually, but couldn't recall all the details of the story..my 4x12 itself came via a little music store in Orlando..it had the silver threaded grill clothe (which I hate), and a big hole in the grill so it was an easy decision to replace.. I did so with the older style black clothe, and replaced the "kick bar" naugha at the bottom..the rest of the cab was in excellent shape including the speakers...you have to look close to realize I've had my hands on the rig.. I have seen pics of other 4x12 with the old style grill so I didn't feel like I was totally defiling history, got the look I wanted, and a nice clean rig..rewired for 16 ohms, the cab hosts my 65 Showman head and is a wonderful outdoor rig...and yeah..it's kept clean and safe under Mike's cover..

Did someone take my name in vain?? Actually I would like to add to the cascade 3x15's in the future but I need to build a new house with a music room before the family CEO will allow any more pieces. It is fun to follow the travels of these wonderful pieces of history. No one cares about a Marshall slant front or a Peavey combo, but everyone comments when they see a Kustom rig onstage. Conrad

I'm with you Con...have been trying to sell my existing home and move to a larger place where i can have my own room..until then, Momma has put a freeze on inventory acquisitions...and my gig trailer is stuffed anyway.

I am using an enclosed horse trailer without horses to haul our stuff. I was trying to sell the small one but now we will probibly use that for transport and storage. I'm sure Linda will worry about that too. She is always worrying that stuff will get stolen if it stored outside of the house. But, the house is never locked and the garage door openers are in the cars and they are unlocked. Keep that under your hat. I bought the Cascade columns with the understanding that I owuld store them at my place of work. They are in my son's closet until the next gig. I hear about that all the time. Oh well, I've vented enough. This is divorce material. Conrad

I've actually been worried about my gear..its in a good trailer with locks all around, but there is a cold/hot/dampness factor...I'm not sure how much that has played a roll..and even before the trailer, just in my home, I've had more and more gear start to fail.. I think I'm just at life cycle on some of the components....the SC rigs are the worst...the input caps/resistors/thingies...whatever they are tend to fail..its' not an expensive fix...and I need to learn to do it myself...but I've been taking them into my local amptech... I'd likely have some kustoms in my closets as well...but they are full of guitars!..there's about 8 in my daughters closet, the same in the downstairs, a couple specials under my bed, 3 sitting out for quick play, and one in case, next to my bed for a last strum before bedtime...I can't wait to get all my babies back in the house, in their own really tacky room (no horse pun intended)..you let me know if the Cascades catch too much heat... I"m sure I can make room for them somehow (grin)....Play Loud Conster! ET

NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!! :-) I have the whole lot of them loaded with JBL's and they sound GREAT. I am using them on a regular basis for my boy's(2) band. I also have a small sound company that provides sound and light for bands. That is slower to take off. Besides, I thought Black was the best sounding color?? Conrad

oh..not to worry my cascade friend... I'd just spray paint those big ol green siren cabs with some low gloss black, and even with the JBL load, they'd still sound just fine!
