I have a vintage Kustom 88. Just set it up last night . First time in 40 years. Really. I can't find foot switch, and sustain is always on. How do I quiet it without foot switch?

Welcome to the place.

I don't have a copy of the schematic, but logic tells me that the sustain function might be normally off via a closed contact on the sustain pedal jack. If it hasn't been used in 40 years, the jack contact may have become oxidized and is no longer making contact.

Is the foot switch jack a typical 1/4" one? Try plugging a guitar cord into the foot switch jack a few times to see if you can clean the contacts.

If I recall right that sustane pedal was nothing more than a momentary switch , so any foot switch will work but you will have to double hit it for it to go on and off .
