Hey there! Recently, a buddy of mine turned me onto this amp and I thought it sounded fantastic. In my search to pick one up, I discovered that there are two different models with the name "III Lead" - one with an all black faceplate, and one with all silver. The silverface version has one less knob I believe.
Does anyone know if there are there any differences between these in terms of sound, or if it's purely cosmetic? Best as I can tell, the "silverface" model is from the late 70s, but we have no idea what year his Blackface model is, as it was a random pawn shop find.
Can't include pics due to my post count, but if you google image search "kustom iii lead," you'll see the differences in the first row of pictures.

when you cut to the chase all of these models sound more alike then different , the ones with the voice control have a tad more tonal shaping to work with but it would not be a turn off from buying one era amp of another if it where me!
A master volume only helps if you find that you like built in soild state distortion.
Also all the 3 series amps are loud at 130 watts RMS into a 4 ohm speaker load!
