Hello everybody,

I recently bought a 4x12 ls cab. Its hard to find any information about it.

Its loaded with cts speakers wich say 8 16. Ohm

I was wondering, does anybody know what the LS stand for?

Its a cab with tolex instead of t&r look but i believe from the same era.

Did kustom produced only 4x12 guitarcabs or also a bassversion?

Tnx
Job

Hello!
LS stands for lead series as in made for guitar.

The cabinet was made to handle 125 watts of RMS power.

The cabinet should be wired to provide a 4 ohm load.

By the time your cabinet was made Kustom was owned by Baldwin piano and the tuck & roll covering was long gone!

A bass version 4-12 cab was never made.

Thank you for the fast awnser!

I was hoping it could handle some bass as i planned to run a bass synth trough it but that dont seem to be a good idea.

Maybe run a 100 watt guitar tubeamp and play some baritoneguitar with it.

What amp would you be using thru the cabinet to play Bass synth through it ?
It should be fine with 50 watts RMS of Bass thru it , but being guitar speakers there going to roll off lows pretty fast below 100 HZ!

I would have put my 250 watt t&r kustom bassamp on it before you gave me this information.
Since the guitar amp is only 8 or 16 Ohm this is also not a good option. Ill find something suiting.

I checked ohmage with a multimeter. One speaker was 10.5 ohm. The whole cab measured 4.1 indeed.
I think it has two speakers wired parallel and then the two sets in series. But im stil learning hehe.

Cheers

Kustom tuck & roll amps and the mid 70s tolex series without effects could be used for guitar or bass as the internals / circuits where the exact same!
You could rewire the cabinet and get mire than close enough to a 8 ohm load out of it.
