Hello everyone, I just acquired a KUSTOM combo amp unit with a model # of "1-B" It has black tolex covering. The back of the amp looks like the head can be removed (the spaker plugs into it) I really don't want to pull it apart so I'm hoping someone can help tell me if it's tube or solid state, speakers, how old, and how much is it worth (working order and no rips) thank you!!!!!!

all original kustom rigs were solid state..only the new kustom company "T" series rigs were solid/tube hybrids...your little rig is dirt easy to open...on the bottom of the head are 4 screws ...drop them out and the amp chasis slides right out so you can view your pots if you want to get that far...the other guys on the site can tell you models etc..I'm stupid about stuff like that...just like the way they look...but wanted to say hi and welcome to the site and the greatest bunch of krazies on the planet! Play Loud! ET

Hello. It most likly has CTS brand speakers. when new the list price was around 450.00, now being used, non tuck and roll 70s model, may be 200 dollars.

Thanks for the help! I couldn't resist taking it apart and doing so I want to share my findings about the "Kustom" Model# 1-B with others who seek the same knowledge. It has the Black tolex covering (I wish it was tuck + roll). A 15" 8 ohm speaker in the enclosed cabinet. It has a solid state removable head (which is held in with 4 screws that go in from the top) I slid the head out the back with a little wiggling. There's not to much to report inside the head. Rather simple (like my sister) a couple of circut boards, a transformer, 2 blue cylinders (??) and some wires. I was told that it worked when I got it, but guess what IT DON'T!!. It lights up and I get a faint scratching noise out of the speaker when I plug my guitar into it. My own F$#@ing uncle screwed me over!!. Oh well I could keep crying about it but that won't get me very far. I'm going to get a price to fix it and if I can afford to fix it I will. Again thanks for the help, It feels good to be part of the "KUSTOM" Family. And don't forget to play it loud !! (what? what?)

ok Dude...for your sister's sake...since you've recently powered the ol rig up..those "little blue cylinder thingies"...filter caps...their sole purpose in life is store as much juice as possible so the amp can translate that into music...trouble is..they can retain their charge long after the amp is turned off...days even...and longer..an experienced amp tech knows how to discharge them...less experienced technicians can sometimes be found a good 20 feet away laying on the floor with a permanent twitch..that's if it doesn't kill em...we need all the kustom fans we can get so you be careful..oh and I wouldn't be too hard on the old Uncle...its amazing the way a rig can fail just sitting there for a few years waiting for that first bit of AC to hit it...no go out and find yerself some tuck n roll!
