I have a '71 250 guitar head with 2x15 cab. What was the ohm rating on those 2x15 cabs? 4 or 8?

Hi Tonebender, I’m sure someone will jump in with a better answer, but generally, since the 250 would run at 4 ohms, Kustom put in two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel which results in 4 ohms. (Kustom put two 16 ohm speakers in some of the K100 series, only because the K100 was designed to not run below 8 ohms. ) Keep in mind, too, the speakers and/or wiring could have been changed in your unit from when it was new. For example, if someone rewired the 8 ohm speakers in series, it would equal 16 ohms. -Les Strickland

good point as That is exactly what I did with my 250 series 4x12 cab...at 4 ohms it felt floppy...and I wanted to run the cab with my 64 Showman head ...so I rewired the cab to 16 ohms...it tamed the showman just a tad...but also, it tightened the sound of the cab...the kustoms need all the help they can get to deliver their rated wattage, so I'd leave the cab at 4 ohms if that's what your pushing with...meter it to be sure...but I'd sure expect you have a 4 ohm cab there.

Thanks - you are correct according to the way it's wired - 4ohm. Blew out 1 voice coil on one speaker - the pair is for sale for you Kustom purists, speakers only - dirt cheap + shipping - any offers?
