Hi guys and gal. I just bought and fixed a K200 wide panel, with reverb and vibrato. The vibrato is really weak. I've never owned one of these before, so I need your input here. How strong an effect is the vibrato supposed to be? I did a little reverse engineering of the circuit and was surprised to find a single stage phase shifter, kinda like a Uni-Vibe. Any input would be appreciated. Bill

Hi, the vibrato and tremlo in all kustom amps have great depth when they are working properly. The tantalum capacitors used in these amps can only have a 15 to 20 year life.I would get a cap meter and start checking all those caps in the vib//trem circute and replace the ones that are off value by more than 20% with new orange drop ones like the amp has in some locations now.In fact if you got about 35 dollars to spare, replacing all the tantalum caps in the preamp gain stages will produce a less noisy amp with a much richer tone. Even more so if you up grade all the signal coupling caps with new smaller noinductive caps.
Thanks for the input. This is an older head, no tantalums. I swapped out the photocell resistor with some that I had in my parts drawers and found one that worked really well. Nice depth, without being too out-of-tune sounding.
Deb- Do you still have a set of repro casters for sale? Thanks again Bill from Chicago
