Rattling Plexi Face Plate Remedy??? Lots of life issues going on. Anyway....... I was playing my Jazz bass thru my 200 2x15 the other day. When I cranked up the amp (about 1/2 way) - I noticed that the plexi faceplate was rattling/vibrating (quite noticable). Does anybody know how to fix this??? Report message to a moderator

Senior Member The plexi face can be completely removed by taking the amp out of the case, removing all of the knobs and nuts beneath them and push the controls back out of the holes. The switch can be removed with the outer nuts, but the pilot light needs to be disconnected and removed from the front after the nut on the back is removed. Then there are some screws, sorry I don't know how many, around the perimeter to remove. The face should slide right off. Then use some 3M 77 spray glue on the back of the faceplate, let it get tacky, and carefully place the faceplate in position. You can use the controls to align everything and set it on it's face to allow the glue to set. Replace everything and you should be good to go. If you spray the chassis front, put some paper behind the chassis front to keep the glue from getting into the electronics. It won't hurt anything but it will be messy. If you want, mask everything to keep the glue out. Good Luck, Conrad Report message to a moderator

Senior Member 3M 77 is a contact cement type of spray adhesive. But, you raise a very interesting question. No, I have not used it for that particular application and I guess I will recind my suggestion. I have a faceplate I could try it on but I'm not sure I have the spray. Tried your suggestion and it worked perfectly. The 'space' between the T&R and the faceplate was a little too large to use picks, though. Instead, I used a couple of business cards. I figured out (by trial & error) how many cards I needed to get the right thicknes. Then I cut them down to size. I then stuck the whole mess in the 'space' - worked great. (Plus - the cardboard stock of the cards was "rough" enough to keep them from sliding around. Thanks again. Report message to a moderator

Warning! my way of dealing with it may be overkill.Take that front plexi and cover the front with 2" wide masking tape.Clean the back side real good(no skin oils get white cotton gloves)Spray the back with gloss enamel paint,do not use a laquer based or water based paint. give that gloss black 2 days to dry, or when you can no longer smell it, get a can of automotive spray under coating, and give it a shot of that.Let that dry for 2 days and slap it back together. nice and quite ha? and looks like new. [message #3172 is a reply to message #3170] Thu, 16 October 2003 14:07 GaryH Messages: 19 Registered: January 2001 Junior Member I did pretty much the same thing (without the undercoat) and it looked great (used that multi-step plastic polish on the front side first to get rid of some light scratches). On mine there were quite a few visible bubbles in the original black paint where it was getting ready to come off, and I stuck some masking tape over these and pulled them off to remove the loose paint before I repainted it. Don't touch any spots where the lettering on the front panel is, as it may come off too (and is really hard to fix). After a few coats of black spray paint over several days and a generous drying period, the faceplate looked brand new! Report message to a moderator
