I just became the proud owner of a Kustom Kombo organ (Thanks, Dan!). It has the JBL's and horns - the JBL's are blown, and I don't have any interest in getting them reconed or replacing them with JBL's. They're 16ohm speakers, so my question is - The Kombo supposedly has a K200A power amp, so what's the lowest impedance it can safely handle? I would think it's 4ohms, and I assume they put 16ohm speakers in the Kombo with the idea that most people would be using an extension speaker, which goes in parallel and does not disable the internal speakers. I may re-wire the external speaker jack to disable the internals, in which case, I assume I'd be ok with putting 8ohm speakers in it.

Yes, 4 ohms is ok. Hey dont throw out those JBLs, even blown they are worth bucks, and for a good reason. They sound great and put out alot of sound pressure with low wattage input. Right now mose reconers get about 150 to redo a 15" JBL.

Hey, are those the D130F's?? If you throw them out, throw them in my direction. I will even pay the shipping. Conrad

Sorry to get everyone's hopes up, but I don't plan on pitching the JBL's. I've seen blown ones on eBay go for anywhere from $30 to $80, so I plan on listing them there. Should nearly pay for a couple of Eminence's (I have a friend who's a dealer, and can get them cheap).

Not a good idea. The Kustom 200/400 series amps had a large value resistor in the emitter of the output transistors. This causes a large feedback voltage at 2 ohms and that causes the amp to become unstable and sounds pretty funky. I don't know if the amp will be damaged, but you won't like the sound. If you have 2 4 ohm speakers, hook them in series for 8 ohms and your power will be about 65 watts. Thats not a lot, I know, but your amp will love you for it. They do have souls you know. Conrad
