Hi all You knowledgeable people out there!!
I have a 2-15-G cabinet (with 250-4 amp) with S/N 67975 (which puts it in early 1973).
I just disassembled it to have a look at what speakers were in there.
What I found was 2 Electro-Voice model SRO/15B.
Are they original or has the speakers been replaced over the years?
If they are replacements, does anyone have an opinion on them?
I like the sound they produce, so I'm not going to replace them, but it is always fun to know more about the stuff...

Hi, The SROs are not original, but, yes! they are a great speaker compared to a original CTS basic model speaker that would have came in the cab. The jack plate on the cab would have said what the cab was originaly loaded with, if that imprinting is still readable.I do not know that the SROs where ever made in 16 ohm models, so I would make note of there impedance and how they are wired. The 250 head is quite happy with a 4 ohm load.I have one of my cabs loaded with the next model up from the SROs, one lead, and one bass 15 and I love it mabe more than another cab that I have loaded with 2 altec 421A 15s.

The Electo-Voice SRO speakers were distributed by Kustom in the 70's to music dealers in the USA. The SRO was the way EV got around franchise agreements with EV dealers. It's hard to tell with the T&R kustoms, since the agreement hadn't been made until the hard tolex kustom amps surfaced that the SRO option was available as a up grade. In any event, the speakers are great speakers and killer for low end bass.

In the 70's were 15" CTS speakers used only for bass cabs? Would a 71 cab with 2 15" CTS speakers with ceramic magnets
be good for guitar? The cab is light weight compared to some of the descriptions I've read on this forum. The bright selection switch on my K200B3 is almost unusable past the the first click with my 2/10 cab. We are talking extreme treble zone! Thanks in advance --- teleman

Hi, a lot of folks like the richer tone of a 15"er. The CTSs should work for guitar, but you may need the bright to be on to get the chime your use to.
Somewhat unrelated but still Kustom in nature. Does anybody have
a for parts Frank head for sale or know someone who does with the effects and driver boards intact? Or just the 2 boards or either one? Desperate! Thanks teleman
