Hello. I recently acquired a K200 bass head and i noticed it has some different features from other similar heads i've seen. First of all, It has two channels, each with a high and low input, as they usually do, but the left side bright channel has a push/pull pot for the bright function on the treble knob and it has the selectone knob as well, in addition to the usual bass and volume knob. On the right normal side, it has the usual volume, bass, treble, and bright i'm used to. Oddly enough, it also has stand mounts on the side for use with the chrome tublar stands Kustom used to offer. Does anyone know anythin about this head? (by the way, there is no model/serial # plate on the back, it's missing, and if it helps, it is black tuck and roll with a purple jewel) Thanks!

Is the treble control lebled for bright? I have never seen a kustom with a push pull control in the tone section. The heads cab you have is from a PA head not a bass head, only the 200 pa heads got the side stand mounts.

You have a K200-6 head if it has the selectone circuit. The channel with selectone has 3 position rotary switch. Yours might have had some field work done at some time if it has a push pull switch instead of a rotary bright switch. The mounting plates on the side would have been for a K100-5 or a K200-5 PA chassis. The head could have been swapped out to match a cabinet. That could have been done anytime.

Thanks for the info! That sounds likely since someone removed the serial number, but I am almost positive the push/pull is stock, it's labeled as "pull bright" in the plexiglass underneath the treble control. This is one weird head i guess haha. Thanks again!
Oh yeah, it does have the rotary bright switch on the right side (the usual volume, bass, treble, bright layout) but the left has the rotary selectone and the push/pull bright, so i know it never had a rotary bright switch on the left side, hence the push/pull; maybe this was a one-off custom (or should i say Kustom...haha) order, if Bud Ross did that kind of thing on occasion. Thanks again!
the only other place I've seen the pull brite setup is on the SC combo rigs...the little K25/50 models use that setup...think its kool that your big ol 200 head did the same
I have a picture of the amp, but i don't know how i can post it here without having to do that whole picture hosting thing that you need a paypal account for (and i don't have, i don't even have a credit card or anything since i'm 16 haha). If anyone has info on it, i could email the pic to you, if that would help. I've had the amp for a little while and i've grown to love its sound (i've managed to get a sound close to late Who-era John Entwistle with a boss Bass Overdrive and a Jazz Bass). I use it with a few different cabs; i have a 100 series 1x15 CTS cab and i've been borrowing a friend's dad's pair of 2x15 cascade CTS speaker cabs, but i also use it with some 1x15 PA cabs with great success. I also own a blue 4 channel PA head (oddly enough, it doesn't have the stand mounts, but i think it's a K200-A5, this one is also missing the serial/model # plate) and a matching blue 2x15 Jensen loaded guitar cab. It's great for guitar, especially with a tubescreamer and a Gibson SG or my Strat XII, and i also use it with an Orange 4x12 cab from '71. These amps are amazing, they have nice singing feedback swells like a '68 Fender Showman head i used to own (until it blew up from old age, caps and tubes all died at once and it would have cost $250 to fix, i traded it along with $100 for the blue Kustom PA/2x15 guitar setup; i'm sure glad i did).
Anyway, the K200 bass head is stock, i am positive (except for a new on/off/on switch and a replaced knob), and it sounds awesome. The tuck and roll as well as the plexiglass are in great shape as well (the front looks like a mirror). Thanks for all the info everyone and if anyone knows what the story is behind this thing, feel free to post it. Thanks again!
Hello. I was just looking through the literature section of the website (under "Kolor Katalog Supplements", the page of black amps) and i found my amp. It is indeed a K200-6, and if you look extremely close at the photos, you can see under the treble knob of the left hand side channel is some text that looks like the "pull bright", as on my amp. "Pleat" was most likely dead on from the start; someone must have swapped the head's cabinet with that of a PA head. Oh well, the amp is in awesome shape and it pounds with 4x15's (Kustom CTS loaded of course ); just used it on a gig tongiht and our drummer was dumb-founded by its sound, and you could really hear it out front. These amps with selectone are God-like, it has gotten to the point where I only use the left channel with the selectone. It's such a great feature. Anyway, thanks everyone for the info and insight. Keep playing those Kustoms! Thanks again!

Hey voided. Where did youget that head from? I believe I saw one just like it at Cascio Music in New Berlin, WI. That would mean you are in the Milwaukee area. Just curious!
Hello. I am close, I got it at Mequon Music (which used to be Casio-Interstate, now privately owned) in Mequon, WI. I guess I should check out New Berlin for some Kustom stuff then! Thanks!
