Hi all -
I have an opportunity to buy a black pushbutton era 2-12G-2 head and 2-12 cab. This head has reverb, trem, vibrato, two channels. Speakers have a silver dust cover with hole in center - any idea what kind of speakers they are? Amp is maybe 8.5 out of ten, only a few small splits on the T&R, and seems to work well except the reverb isn't very deep - maybe they are just that way - and the On button doesn't light up. It has portholes and Kasters. No footswitch. I can buy it for $250 flat and wouldn't mind buying it, playing with it a while, and moving it on, but I'd like to at least break even and hopefully make a few bucks - what's a realistic value on this amp? Any help will be appreciated! Smile

Hello. It sounds like a 150 series amp to me. The speakers are probably CTS if they are original; worth checking. I think $250 is very reasonable, and after playing with this amp for a while, I doubt you'll really want to move on. Try the head with a few diferent cabinets; I use my K200-A5 with either it's original 2x15 Jensen or a full stack with a Crate and an Orange 4x12, but your amp I believe is only meant to go down to 8 ohms, so that's good to bear in mind when trying stuff. Also try some different effects with the amp, I get great overdrive sounds with a tubescreamer and a Boss DS-1. The reverb might require a small repair since usually the reverbs on these amps are huge; do a search through this forum, I remember someone talking about replacement reverb pans (and also about how to replace the pilot lights). Anyway, good luck with your acquisition and have fun with the amp!

Yipes... forgot to mention it was a 150! All my previous Kustoms have been the earlier models, plexi panels, but I know some people prefer the later ones...
