Just a quick note to say I have not seen another post on a single 18" Kustom cabinet and wondered how many others have one? I can post a pic if anyone is interested.

The first time Kustom used a 18" speaker, was in the 250 series amps. You can see a view of it in the literature section of this site. It was a singal 18 W style folded horn cabinet.

I have seen the folded horn rigs - Even played thru one of Don's once - A real back of the room pounder - But I was under the impression this was a single speaker / front mounted job - Jc
The cabinet is a black tuck, single 18" with one chrome tube in the center just above the middle of the cab. It has two fold out handles and the speaker is a CTS 18"
Put it up if you can. I know Peavy was making them at the time but did'nt know Kustom did. Peavy was really the competetion for Kustom in those days of the 70's. Peavy did not have the sound to me that Kustom did. But they were much cheaper and had the volume for any bass player. The bass player I was with sold his old double cab Kustom and got a 400 watt Peavy that he still has. I wish I could have gotten his old Kustoms LOL.
I have sent about 6 pics to Dan at this webpage and included the model and code #s from the 18" speaker. I opened the cabinet and took pics of the inside and answered all of Dans questions about the cab. I havent heard back from him on it yet? I too am wondering is it real or someones upgrade to a Kustom Cab. The cabinet is a Kustom, but not sure if someone added the 18 afterwards?

Bob I'm sorry I did'nt recieve any of your emails. I'm sure its a gennie though. It would have been a lot of trouble for some one to have created a back folded horn 18" Kustom cab like that. I just have'nt been lucky enough to see one. I have seen peavy's from that time period and that was kustoms new competetor at that time so I'm sure Kustom would have tried to match them so it would probably be a 300. I have also heard rumors that Earth had one out too back then.
Just a quick note to say I ran into the girl I bought the cabinet from in 1984 and she told me it was the real deal. She was a keyboard player and got it from someone from the factory? This was her story, but not sure how true. Bob
I saw one here used once in a little store called mach's electronics. I was'nt sure if it was for real or maybe something someone had just modded until I heard about them here again.
this an old post but am replying anyhow. i used to own a kustom 250 head w/2 cabinets. each cab had a folded(backward) 18" speaker. just like the photo in the literature section on this site.

I have a 1-18 Kustom folded horn with a k-200b1 head and it kicks some serious butt. It is not a modified deal it is the real deal. and it gets seriously low. I got my setup for 300.00 head and cab. The tuck and roll on the cab is a little rough but with a little black rtv and some tape it will look fine. the head is in good shape and does not need much work at all. I am in the process of buying a 2-15 cab abd another 200b1 head should end up with quite the rig.
